WHEN POLICE DIE!

Once again, the nation is compelled to mourn the death .of police officers. Rightly so, if such mourning changes the dynamics of the relationship between a para-militarized police and the communities in which they patrol. By no sense of the imagination should anyone be cavalier about the killing of a police officer, no more than they…

The Magnificent Protestors

The peaceful protestors of the killing of unarmed black males by police are magnificent. In addition to dealing with these horrible murders, they must face criticism from a variety of sources intent on silencing them.  From the biased media is understandable and expected. But, from friends in high places, especially in response to the recent  shooting of two policemen, must be alarming. The killing of these two policemen by a madman has become a pretext to silence protests.  The fact of the…

Reflections on the March For Justice

Even as I disembarked the subway to join the March For Justice in Washington DC on Saturday December 13 2014, I was surprised by my  overwhelming feeling of deep sadness.  As I joined the thousands on Pennsylvania Avenue, I just could not shake it. I felt too sad to even join the chants of “No justice, No Peace”, nor raise my hands to ”Hands up, Don’t shoot!” I just could not help thinking of tragedy of those victims of police killings. I was haunted by the videos of the killings.…

Hands Up - Don't Shoot

Contrary to the refrain from the tragic Ferguson, Mo., shooting of Michael Brown, we know that keeping your hands up does not mean you will not be shot. Assata Shakur had her hands up when she was shot on the New Jersey turnpike by a State Trooper, Oscar Grant was laying face down on a subway platform when he was shot in the back by a Bay Area Transit cop, Sean Bell was executed in a hail of bullets by a half dozen…

Only with demonstrations and protests do we have a voice!

Some people would call the demonstrators and those in support of them radical and trouble makers, but that would not at all be the truth.  Blacks have been a restrained and a controlled people in these lands and in all the lands that took Slaves to build their empires.  And since the end of Slavery, descendants of Slaves have endured pain and suffering, cruelty and endless racist acts that have been covered up or rendered nonexistent, and have been left out…

Call For the First African Federalist Congress

Do you believe that the political unification of the African States is a matter of utmost urgency for Africans on the continent and in the Diaspora?

Do you agree with Kwamé Nkrumah when he stated that; "It is clear that we must find an African solution to our problems, and that this can only be found in African unity. Divided we are weak; united, Africa could become one of the greatest forces for…
