The International Community Arts Institute inaugural Writer’s RE-Treat with Yasus Afari, Kingston, Jamaica

SenYAcum Edutainment unveils the new International Community Arts Institute with the inaugural iCAI Writer’s RE-Treat for writers, cultural producers, and global community arts professionals. The iCAI Writer’s RE-Treat 2017 will feature seven integrated arts workshops led by Yasus Afari, the SenYAcum Edutainment Team (SET) and special international guest edutainers. Participants will be granted V.I.P. access to Jamaica Poetry Festival 2017, The US Poetry Edition at the Louise Bennett Garden Theatre, 08.13, the opportunity to present their poetry at the iCAI Writer’s RE-Treat Showcase, 08.15, and featured in the iCAI Ubuntu Community Arts Journal. The Jamaica Intellectual Heritage Tour is another featured component of the iCAI Writer’s RE-Treat. The tour includes Life Yard, African Caribbean Institute/Jamaica Memory Bank, Institute of Jamaica, National Library of Jamaica, Bob Marley Museum, Tuff Gong Studio, Peter Tosh Museum, and Liberty Hall.
The International Community Arts Institute, iCAI is an onsite/online graduate school that specializing in innovative, creative, cutting edge and forward-thinking methodologies and teaching practices. Classes offered at iCAI feature critical and in-depth readings of source material, engaging lectures by professional Jamaican dub poets and community artists, hands on individual and group assignments (in community and classroom presentations), and in-class and online discussions. The programs offered at iCAI will be completed online during the academic year with an annual onsite iCAI Writer’s RE-Treat in August.  Just in time for the Jamaica Poetry Festival!
